Building Momentum Through Community Conversations

My Montgomery County Auditor Campaign continues to move forward, even when there is not always time to share every meeting, conversation, or event happening behind the scenes. While many voters are not yet focused on the November election, the work required to earn their trust happens months before ballots are cast.

Last week was a perfect example.

Listening to Community Leaders

Several meetings focused on one-on-one conversations with current leaders throughout Montgomery County. Those discussions provided valuable insight into what is working well, where improvements could be made, and what challenges communities continue to face.

Rather than arriving with a list of talking points, I spent much of my time listening. Understanding the perspectives of those already serving our communities helps identify opportunities for stronger collaboration and better service.

In addition, many of those conversations centered on transparency, communication, housing concerns, and the need for government to remain responsive to the people it serves.

REALTOR® Advocacy Matters

One of the highlights of the week was participating in a candidate interview with the Dayton REALTORS® Legislative Committee.

As a REALTOR® for more than 25 years, the discussion focused on issues I encounter every day while working with buyers, sellers, investors, and homeowners. Property taxes, housing affordability, property rights, and transparency were all part of the conversation.

The experience reinforced something I have believed for years. REALTORS® bring a valuable perspective because we see the impact of government decisions in real time. We hear concerns directly from homeowners. We help buyers evaluate affordability. Likewise, we see neighborhoods changing long before statistics appear in a report.

That REALTOR® perspective is one of the reasons I entered the Montgomery County Auditor Campaign.

Building a Grassroots Campaign

Work also continues in preparation for our upcoming Meet & Greet fundraiser in Huber Heights.

Volunteers are collecting silent auction baskets, finalizing event details, and continuing conversations with supporters throughout the county. Building a grassroots campaign requires time, energy, and a willingness to meet people where they are.

Meanwhile, a recent discussion with party leaders reinforced an important point. Momentum develops long before election season reaches full speed. Waiting until the fall to begin engaging with residents is simply too late.

Service Over Status Quo

This campaign has been built through conversations, relationships, volunteer support, and a commitment to service. Every meeting attended, every question answered, and every conversation held helps strengthen the foundation being built for the future.

This Montgomery County Auditor Campaign should not be about maintaining the status quo. Instead, it should focus on bringing a new perspective, advocating for homeowners, improving transparency, and ensuring residents have a voice in decisions that affect their property and communities.

As a result, momentum continues to grow because people are engaging in the conversation. For that, I remain grateful and encouraged by the support being shown throughout Montgomery County.

Campaign finance reports were recently filed, and it is no secret that I cannot compete dollar-for-dollar with long-established political fundraising networks. However, that is not my goal.

Election campaigns should not operate under the idea that the largest bank account determines who is most qualified to serve. My campaign is built on the belief that listening first matters, real-world experience counts, and strong relationships form the foundation of public service.

The strength of a grassroots campaign is not measured by how much money is spent. Instead, it is measured by the willingness to have meaningful conversations, earn trust, and build support one person at a time.

That is exactly what I intend to keep doing.

The momentum continues to build through community conversations, and I am grateful to everyone who has taken the time to share their ideas, concerns, experiences, and vision for Montgomery County’s future.
